Eiichi Miyazato Sensei

Eiichi Miyazato Sensei was born in 1922. He started learning karate at age 14 and became Chojun Miyagi Sensei's student three years later in 1938. He rose to be one of Miyagi Sensei's senior students. He joined the Okinawa police department in1946 as a karate Sensei's death he established the Jundokan dojo in Naha in 1957 and taught there until his death in 1999.

Miyazato Sensei was a humble man who inspired loyalty in his students. Like may of his peers. he had a low opinion of sports karate and saw that winning competitions or getting a higher grade were only the surface of karate and did not reflect the depth of traditional karate which required lifelong training.

While a leading exponent of the art, he believed in the value of family and work and believed that karate should only be secondary to these.
